Strengthening Student Leadership and Motivation to Achieve Dreams

University of Riau- Pekanbaru (Saturday, February 01, 2025), Yayasan Karya Salemba Empat (KSE) in collaboration with PT Pacific Renewable Energy (April Group) held a face-to-face meeting for KSE scholarship recipients at the University of Riau (UNRI). The event was attended by 124 students from six public and private universities, 20 of whom were scholarship recipients from PT Pacific Renewable Energy. The details of the participants are as follows: 115 students from the University of Riau (UNRI), 5 students from Sultan Syarif Kasim State Islamic University (UIN Suska), and 1 student each from Riau Islamic University (UIR), Muhammadiyah Riau University (UMRI), Pelita Indonesia Institute of Business and Technology (IBT), and North Sumatra University (USU), Medan. This event aims to provide leadership strengthening and increase student motivation in achieving their dreams.

The event started at 09.00 WIB with the opening by the Master of Ceremony (MC), followed by singing the national anthem Indonesia Raya and KSE Mars. Furthermore, Tasya Widia Maharani and Rajunaini Hulda explained the achievements of PRE Scholarship recipients and the activities of the UNRI KSE Association, including Community Development programs and social activities in 35 KSE partner universities.

Hengky Poerwowidagdo, Secretary & Chief Operating Officer of Yayasan KSE delivered his remarks, appreciating APRIL Group's support and partnership. He hopes that this collaboration will continue with an increase in the number of scholarship recipients so that the benefits will be wider.

The second speech was delivered by Bumantara Gani, Kerinci Complex Talent Coordinator of PT Pacific Renewable Energy (APRIL Group), who emphasized the company's commitment to supporting education and youth empowerment. “We are proud to see the positive impact of the KSE program, especially through community-oriented student activities. Hopefully this collaboration will further strengthen our impactful social contribution,” he said.

Prof. Dr. Hermandra, M.A., Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni, also expressed his appreciation to KSE for focusing on community-based activities. “This program has the advantage of providing direct benefits to the community through initiatives such as Community Development,” he said. He also hopes that this scholarship program can continue to support the development of students who are competitive and socially concerned.

This was followed by the inauguration ceremony of APRIL's scholarship program represented by the scholarship recipients.

After the ceremonial series was completed, the event continued with the delivery of the first material delivered by Bumantara Gani, Kerinci Complex Talent Coordinator of PT PRE with the topic “Leadership and Company Profile and CSR Program of PRE-APRIL Group.” He started the session with self-evaluation as well as how to face obstacles, find solutions, and set life goals. “Being a leader is not just about position, but how we face challenges and continue to grow,” he said.

The importance of mindset as a foundation in overcoming failure and achieving success. The quote “the more you give, the more you get” was highlighted, inviting participants to start small and see changes in the future.

The second material “It's Always Impossible Until It's Done” was delivered by Satriadi Indarmawan - Co-Founder of Karya Salemba Empat Foundation. In his presentation, he gave an overview of the value of the Karya Salemba Empat Foundation for education in Indonesia, shared his life experiences and how to survive, struggle, and keep working hard.

He provided motivation that nothing is really impossible if we have determination and hard work.
