PT UBS Sekuritas Indonesia this time together with the KSE Association of Gadjah Mada University held a joint social activity. With the theme of "Healthy Lifestyle Education & Vegetable Vertical Garden Planting" UBS invited elementary school children around Karangwaru Village, Yogyakarta to jointly care for health, environment and food security. Opening remarks were given by Joshua Tanja - Managing Director and Head of UBS Indonesia, Equities and Research and Ahmad Solihin - Executive Vice Chairman of Yayasan Karya Salemba Empat.
Through a series of games 25 children accompanied by employees from PT UBS Sekuritas Indonesia had to pass through 5 game and educational posts. Starting with a group photo at Tugu Pal Putih, Yogya, the participants who were divided into 10 small groups took a rickshaw to the location of the First Post at Point Zero Riverside Kelurahan Karangwaru. At the First Post, the participants were educated about Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour, Hand Washing with Soap and watched a film about "Urban Farming". The education was given by UBS employees and members of the UGM KSE Association.
Moving on to the Second Post, participants were given a demonstration by members of the UGM KSE Association on how to make organic fertiliser and immediately practised making organic fertiliser assisted by UBS and Games employees. In the Third Post, participants were given a challenge to paint used bottles with watercolours. This activity ended with a competition to make a Vertical Garden with vegetables in the unused riverside field of Karangwaru residents.
It is hoped that this activity will inspire residents to plant vegetables in their own yards so that they can be used by the community and it is hoped that residents can better maintain the cleanliness of their environment. Closing remarks were given by Agung Prabowo - Managing Director Head of Corporate Client Solutions, Indonesia PT UBS Indonesia, Ahmad Solihin - KSE and Representatives from Karangwaru Village Community Leaders.
