KSE UB Coaching: First Day

On February 25 and 26, 2025, the Paguyuban KSE Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a coaching session guided directly by Hengky Poerwowidagdo and Maya Dintasari. In this activity, the scholarship recipients were divided into two groups to discuss their dreams and the challenges they face in achieving their goals. In the first session, participants were asked to tell about their personal dreams in the future, starting from the profession they want to achieve to their salary expectations. Several participants aspire to become engineers in the private or government sectors, continue their studies, and become academics.

After sharing their dreams, participants identified the various obstacles they faced in achieving those goals. The most common external obstacle was the difference in desires between participants and their parents, who often had different expectations for their children's future. On the other hand, internal obstacles that emerged included overthinking, lack of self-confidence, and ineffective time management.

To overcome these challenges, participants were paired with individuals who had different obstacles. They then provided solutions to each other based on their experiences and perspectives. For example, to overcome time management issues, some participants suggested journaling techniques to help set daily priorities. Meanwhile, for those who experienced overthinking, it was suggested to recognize their own strengths and not think too much about other people's opinions. The results of these discussions were then presented so that all participants could gain broader insights.

After the sharing session, Hengky Poerwowidagdo gave a brief presentation on the philosophy and values adopted by KSE. He also introduced the parties behind the scenes of KSE with the aim of fostering a sense of pride and enthusiasm in the KSE beswan. Next, the coaching session moved on to a discussion about the KSE UB Association. Randomly, two beswan were asked to present the association's work programs, both internal and external. After the presentation, the participants were divided into seven groups, each of which had a main focus in developing the association:

1.     Poncokusumo Development (Djava Rebranding) – Creating a drink that can be consumed in various situations, both hot and cold.

2.     Education – Designing the Jabung Education program, paid tutoring, and training for ODGJ.

3.     Battery Technology from Fruit Waste – Researching and developing battery innovations made from orange waste.

4.     Marketing – Developing marketing strategies to support the association's programs.

5.     Website and Media Branding – Managing the association's website and social media to increase visibility.

6.     Event – Organizing events that accommodate the activities of each group.

7.     Report – Making reports on internal and external activities, as well as the association's achievements for the rectorate.

Each group discussed their work plan and then presented the results in front of other participants. With high spirits, they delivered innovative ideas, accompanied by each group's unique cheers. The KSE team also provided input to improve the work program that had been designed.

This coaching activity became a forum for KSE UB beswan to recognize their potential, share experiences, and develop joint strategies in developing the association. The first day's session ended with great enthusiasm, marking the first step towards a more solid and innovative association.

COACHING: Day Two

On the second day, the groups refined their discussions by adding comments from the first presentation session. They prepared more formal presentation materials by including the implementation timeline, budget, and SWOT analysis for their program.

The final presentation results showed synergy between groups. The event group successfully designed an event that accommodated the Djava development and education group programs. The marketing group designed a marketing strategy for KSE UB products and programs. The report group completed the report that would be submitted to the rectorate, while the social media team began to publish the program introduction design resulting from this coaching.

After the presentation session, the event continued with a sharing session with KSE alumni who still live in Malang. The three alumni who attended were Bagus, Aditya, and Nur. They shared their experiences regarding the association during their time and provided tips and tricks for entering the world of work. The enthusiasm of the participants was very high, as evidenced by the many questions asked regarding organizations and professional careers.

This sharing session is expected to strengthen the relationship between beswan and alumni, as well as open up more opportunities for collaboration and mentorship in the future. With a new spirit, this KSE UB coaching successfully inspired and motivated the participants to continue to develop and contribute to the association.
