On Sunday 9 December 2018, we have held two main events, namely the workshop "Exploring Mutual Fund Investment for Young People" and the awarding of the article writing competition with the theme "Mutual Funds, Investing Young People" conducted in collaboration with the Salemba Empat Karya Association with Manulife Asset Management in KB 103 Room of the Health Sciences Group of the University of Indonesia. The series of activities started from 08.00 to 08.55 for registration of seminar participants and at 09.00 the seminar was opened.
The event opened with the opening of the MC then sang the Indonesia Raya song which was followed by the KSE Mars. Then remarks from KSE representative Mr Hengky Poerwodidagdo as Chief Operating Officer of Karya Salemba Empat. Furthermore, the event continued with a brief explanation of the implementation of the workshop and the mentimeter poll.
The second presentation of material was delivered by Mrs Linda. In delivering the second material, the speaker applied the FGD system where seminar participants were divided into 8 groups. Each two groups are given the same topic, where the results of the FGD will be presented by group representatives then the two groups respond to each other from the topics discussed.
The third presentation was delivered by Mrs Afifa as Director of Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia and the discussion was guided by Mrs Dyah Wulandari. The material presented by Mrs Afifa was a more in-depth explanation of the discussion topics that had been presented by students in the previous FGD. In this session, it was interspersed with questions asked by seminar participants related to investing in mutual funds. In addition, Mrs Afifa shared her life experiences from the beginning to become a director, how to manage finances, distinguish between "needs" and "wants". She also explained about mutual fund investment which is likened to "salad" and the benefits of mutual funds as an investment for financial independence.
The Seminar "Mutual Fund Investment, Investing in Young People" ended with the awarding of the winners of the mutual fund article writing competition that had been conducted one month earlier.
