Special Hour with F. Chapman Taylor
In the session “Embracing Changes through Work, Life, and Indonesia,” F. Chapman Taylor (KSE Board of Trustees) and Rizal B. Prasetijo (KSE Co-Founder) shared reflections on KSE’s journey since its inception.
Regarding the Origins and Values of KSE, Mr. Rizal recounted how the scholarship idea emerged from the concerns of high-achieving but financially challenged students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEUI) in 1984. Eight friends who founded KSE were determined to create a scholarship so students could focus on their studies without having to work. Since then, 80% of KSE recipients have seen an increase in their GPAs. “Education is the key to opening opportunities and broadening horizons,” Chapman said.

KSE’s Four Core Values: confidence, integrity, networking, and a growth mindset.
Technology & AI: Mr. Chapman emphasized the importance of technological literacy. “Change is constant. Use AI as a tool, don’t let it control you.”

Finance & Investment: Mr. Rizal emphasized the importance of early financial literacy, alluding to the 1998 financial crisis when KSE had to adapt and seek alternative funding. Chapman was a key donor who helped expand the scholarship program
