Karya Salemba Empat Student Achieves 5 International Titles

Amina, born in March 2021, is a final year undergraduate student in the Chemistry Study Programme at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Brawijaya University, Malang. This student from Kediri City is the first daughter of M. Muhaimin and Nur Azizah. The eldest child, often called Ami, has been a recipient of the Karya Salemba Empat Scholarship since her fourth semester. Amina’s journey since becoming a recipient of the Karya Salemba Empat Scholarship has undoubtedly provided her with numerous experiences and knowledge. “Yes, with the KSE scholarship, I have been able to gain many trainings and experiences that have had a significant impact on myself, and this impact has greatly influenced my academic and non-academic achievements,” said Amina. “Additionally, the monthly allowance from KSE not only helps with daily life and tuition fees but is also very useful for entering competitions, as each competition has registration fees,” she added.

International championships won from 2020 to 2022 are

  1. First Place Winner of the ASEAN Innovative Science, Environment, and Entrepreneurship Exhibition (AISEEF) 2022
  2. Third Place Winner of the 2022 Youth International Science Fair (YISF)
  3. First Place Winner of the International Writing Competition at Covenant University & Organization for the Promotion of Creativity, Innovation, and Invention (OCIIP) 2021
  4. Second Place Winner of the 2021 Korean Innovation Women Invention Exposition (KIWIE)
  5. Second place in the 2020 Indonesia International Applied Science Project Olympiad (IA2SPO).

Ami’s initial motivation for participating in the competition was her interest in medical innovation and developing it in the competition she entered. She said that she was motivated by her colleagues in RITMA, a student research and science organisation that had already won the competition. “Inspired by the achievements of my RITMA friends who had already won many awards, I was challenged to try and gain the same benefits from joining RITMA as my friends had from winning championships,” and indeed, this young woman from Kediri went on to win several competitions she entered. Not only that, but his latest achievement is also becoming a Research Assistant at BRIN for the 2022-2023 period, a participant in PIMNAS 35 in the PKM RE 2022 category, and a recipient of funding in the PKM-RE 2022 category from DIKTI.

This achievement was one of the most memorable things for Ami in the PIMNAS event. It was not only the writing and ideas, but also the fact that they could be implemented and funded and passed to the national stage. “Of the many ideas and repeated attempts at competitions, finally it was not only the writing but also the ideas that could be funded and then implemented and passed the national PIMNAS by DIKTI,” said Ami in an interview. Additionally, Ami explained that being a Research Assistant at BRIN is a valuable opportunity, as it allows her to learn about research, how to publish in high-impact journals, and receive a monthly stipend.

Of course, the achievements she has made are what motivate and drive Ami to continue learning. It is certainly not easy to prepare everything, she says, but making her parents happy is the main reason. “From this competition, I learned from several mistakes, and those mistakes cannot be repeated. Additionally, my motivation is to make my parents happy by achieving success and allowing them to see my accomplishments,” she added.
