Crossing the Gateway to the Future

Zain Fathoni – Alumni KSE ITB
Senior Software Engineer – Ninja Van Singapura

Expressing a million optimisms and efforts will give birth to thousands of hidden potentials. The days of college and school life certainly do not last long, so it would be a shame if we lose to the realities of life and do not use our time to learn and continue to develop ourselves. Or if we are only capable of dreaming and setting our goals as high as the sky. However, if we are only supported by weak wings, we are no different from a sparrow that will never be able to match the flight of an eagle.

Striving, learning new things and exploring his potential tirelessly were always embedded in Zain Fathoni’s determination during his studies. Zain is a KSE scholarship recipient who graduated in 2014 from the Department of Informatics Engineering at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

Before receiving the KSE scholarship, it was initially difficult to engage in self-development activities such as joining organisations and other positive activities, because the cost of living in Bandung turned out to be different from that in Jember. And I didn’t want to burden my parents by asking for additional money“.

After receiving the KSE scholarship, Zain was able to freely engage in various positive activities to develop himself without worrying about burdening his parents.

Crossing the Gateway to the Future

When he received the KSE scholarship, Zain was a friendly person with a wide circle of friends. In addition, he was always active in the ITB KSE Association and various organisations on his campus. Zain was also active as a teacher at the ITB KSE Association’s Rumah Ganesha.

Being far away from his parents, who are secondary school teachers, did not dampen Zain’s enthusiasm to continue learning and exploring his various potentials so that he could develop further and be competitive in the world of work in the future.

Studying at university alone is not enough. Zain participated in various training programmes, including those offered by KSE, such as KSE Leadership Training at the Military Academy in Magelang, a series of training programmes from Indofood Leadership Camp II, III and IV, and Technology for Indonesia.

The training made Zain a person of integrity and helped him discover his hidden potential. He always applies the knowledge he gained from the training in his daily life and in his organisation, and he does not hesitate to implement it in the surrounding community.

KSE can help us achieve our dreams and aspirations by providing training that paves the way to a better future. It’s not just about getting a scholarship to help with tuition fees, but much more than that. I have gained many benefits thanks to KSE, in line with its motto: Sharing, Networking, & Developing..” Zain Fathoni.

Zain began to reap the early fruits of his personal development at that time. Zain currently works as a Senior Software Engineer at Ninja Van in Singapore. Zain also previously worked at Xtremax Pte Ltd as a Software Developer Team Manager in Singapore. nbsp; “I have also been leading the tech team of the Kawal COVID-19 (https://kawalcovid19.id) and Warga Bantu Warga (https://www.wargabantuwarga.com) communities to help improve the COVID-19 situation in Indonesia,” added Zain.
