TOBA – PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum or INALUM as a company engaged in downstreaming the largest aluminum commodity in Indonesia contributes to improving education in its operational areas. This was done by INALUM through the Karya Salemba Empat Foundation (KSE) by providing scholarships to students in the North Sumatra region.

The scholarship recipients come from 10 districts/cities included in INALUM’s operational area and are currently studying at the University of North Sumatra, Medan State University, and North Sumatra State Islamic University.

Not only stopping at providing scholarships to support program sustainability, INALUM collaborates with KSE to participate in increasing the capacity and capability of beneficiary students with INALUM Camp Batch 2 activities, which will be held 22 – 31 October 2024 in the operational area of ​​the Inalum Power Plan Paritohan.

Plt. Head of the Community and Environmental Empowerment Department Daniel J P Hutauruk expressed INALUM’s support and commitment in advancing education through the INALUM scholarship program and appreciated the actions and movements of the scholarship recipients who participated in helping the community with various community development programs.

“INALUM continues to be committed to developing human resources around the company, specifically education at universities with scholarship assistance provided through the Karya Salemba Empat Foundation,” said Daniel.

A total of 50 student participants who were members of the Medan Raya KSE Association during INALUM Camp Batch 2 were provided with sharing material related to communication skills, organization and leadership in organizations and society.

“The company also appreciates the initiatives that have been carried out by KSE and student beneficiaries in sharing good practices for programs that are useful for community empowerment, such as waste banks, automatic waste sorting, tree planting actions, development of community service groups and so on. “This shows that students do not stop at just receiving scholarship benefits but continue to move and share the knowledge they have with society, this must continue to be supported,” explained Daniel.

On the same occasion, Marsangap P Tamba as Chief Executive Officer of KSE emphasized the commitment and contribution that KSE has made in making the nation’s life smarter.

“The Karya Salemba Empat Foundation is a foundation that is committed to helping the education of the nation’s children. “The aim is to encourage and help prepare scholarship recipients to become graduates who have integrity, have a national outlook, love their homeland, homeland and nation,” explained Marsangap.

Marsunjung also had the opportunity to provide motivation to the participants so that students could gain as much knowledge and experience as possible during INALUM Camp Batch 2 activities.

“Not only focusing on the material, the participants were then distributed to several points which are INALUM’s priority programs around the operational area, such as the BUMN House in Balige, the Elementary School in Tangga Village and the highest waterfall in Indonesia, namely Ponot,” added Marsunjung. .

The students will later explore these points, carry out surveys and observations to get an overview of the social conditions of the community, natural potential, cultural potential in the INALUM environment so that they can provide recommendations for programs that can be worked on together.

Adrian Sinaga as the Scholarship beneficiary and one of the Inalum Camp Batch 2 participants expressed his gratitude and hopes to continue to collaborate with KSE activities and INALUM programs in the future.

“We, representatives of the Inalum Camp Batch 2 Medan Raya participants, would like to express our gratitude to INALUM and KSE. We gained a lot of knowledge and relationships, saw the highest waterfall in Indonesia, enjoyed superior MSME products. “We hope that holding this event can increase our leadership spirit and become our guide in continuing our education,” concluded Andrian.
